Some Personal Opinions on Current Affairs and Issues.

Note;  These are “FOR REFERENCE ONLY”.  When I am in office, my opinions will not count for more than anyone else’s.

Economy

  • The US economy has been systematically dismantled over a period of several decades.  It could be a conspiracy of evil power hungry people.  It could be a socialist takeover of capitalism.  It could be many things, but whatever the cause, we are on the brink of losing all our liberties.  The reason we have arrived at such a bloody point is lack of diligence on the part of the Government, and the people. That is not at all good.  Bailouts need to end, taxes need to be lowered, Trillion dollar spending sprees need to end.  The Government regulatory agencies need to pay attention.  The people need to be more educated, and awake, to make sure the regulators are doing their job.  I do not believe we need new Laws or agencies to correct the problems.  We didn’t use the ones we have.

Energy Independence

  • The United States is not currently energy independent today basically because the people have not insisted on it.  This was a serious issue during the early 1970s energy crisis.  I am honored to work in a building built shortly after this period, and am bless with no windows in the building.  If we did lose the drive for independence at that time, we would not have an issue now.  We the people let that opportunity go by.  We currently have been driven into another opportunity.  Please, lets not lose the drive this time.  I don’t think we can legislate our way there, but if products and services are provided, we the people will buy them.

Cap and Trade

  • I believe that taxing what we exhale is not too far removed from taxing what we inhale.  There are already plenty of taxes on the what we ingest.  We don’t pay it at the store, but, everyone does at every step the food takes in getting to the store. Even approaching taxing the air we breath, is going too far.  Cap and Trade is an idea that must go.

Global Warming

  • It may be man made, it may not.  There is no consensus.  In reality, whether Global Warning is real or not, most of the methods proposed to control it make sense to achieve. if for no other reason than to help clean up the planet, and help bring on Energy Independence. The issue of Global Warming, true or false, is not relevant. We can not just give up all we have, drop everything, to obtain clean energy and stop Global Warming or we will die.  We do need to drill to bridge the gap between “Then” and “Now”.  We need to take our time and do it right.  We can not lose the drive, but we do not need to be frightened that if we don’t do it NOW, life on earth will end.

Race Discrimination

  • I believe that a vast majority of We the People do not harbor issues with Race, Gender or whatever other kinds of discrimination there is.  I think many of us do have issues with Age Discrimination, but that is probably natural.  As far as Race / Gender things, the only people that regularly bring it up are Politicians, News Media, and others that stand to gain power from keeping this issue alive.  All people that insist on bringing it up, and the few that actually have a problem with it, really need to get real, get on, get over it.  It is done.

Abortion and Life

  • Not being an expert on biology or theology, in my way of thinking, one can say with absolute certainty that Life begins with conception.  Anything other than that can only be opinions.  I doubt an embryo cares much about anyone’s opinion.  Actually, Life begins with the “Gleam in the Eye”, and must be protected at all cost, from the beginnig of life, to it's natural end.  That is both the unborn, that has much to learn, and the old, that has much to teach.  The abortion laws we have in place do not legislate to protect early life, but they do protect the right for people to follow their own conscience in this regard.  It’s between their God and themselves.  I think the abortion laws we have are adequate.

Health Care

  • This needs help.  Single payer, is not acceptable to me.  Pulling the plug on Grandma, is not acceptable to me.  But, leaving the Socialistic aspects of the current health care proposals (8/24/09) out of the equation, and adding things like tax breaks, Health Care Savings accounts, Tort reform, cost guidelines, and many of the other aspects of other current proposals, there is plenty of room for necessary improvement.  Not in two weeks, slam bam, thank you, and “now I own you cradle to grave”.  It needs to be done incrementally, deliberately, and by the consent of We the People.

Term Limits

I am a firm believer in Term Limits.  I believe we already have them, and always did.  It does not need to be, nore should it be, legislated  Voters, be educated, be informed, be involved, vote.  If a representative is not meeting your needs, work against their re-election, and vote them out.
